Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland is stepping up its commitment to sustainability and bundling all its ongoing initiatives and projects into a newly created Sustainability Department, placed within Corporate Strategy & Development. As Director of Sustainability, Marie-Fee Taube will be responsible for the entire Department. In her new role, she will work with the Sustainability team and sub-divisions to develop an overarching sustainability strategy that formalises all previous activities into a system and sets out new fields of action. The focus is on the economic, ecological and social aspects of sustainability, which are to be anchored in the core business of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland in the long-term.

At Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, sustainability and responsibility have long been much more than words - they underpin numerous projects and initiatives. Such as measures to achieve climate neutrality and the activities of the RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V. Foundation with its annual RTL-Spendenmarathon (RTL Telethon), which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and has already collected more than €182 million in donations for children in need in Germany and around the world. Or for instance the regularly-held Sustainability Weeks, which draw attention to future-relevant topics under the slogan “Packen wir’s an” (Let's do it). The high relevance of sustainability topics and the power of the media are evident in the research results about the theme weeks: Just under half of the Germans were aware of the Sustainability Week in September 2019, and 77% of the people reached changed their way of thinking as a result of the initiative*. The Action Week in September 2020 about nutrition reached more than one-third of Germans, 75% of whom want to shop more consciously in future and 50% want to waste less food in future**.

As a driving force behind our business activities, we would like to approach sustainability at Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland through three dimensions: Environment & Supply Chain, Content & Sales, and Social & Society. The topic of sustainability is thus destined to become part of the overall strategy and will in the future be coordinated and managed centrally by Marie-Fee Taube – away from piecemeal projects and towards a holistic, integrated strategy and visible corporate responsibility”.

Marie-Fee Taube has been management consultant at the Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland since 2019. She managed the theme weeks “Packen wir’s an” and implemented a variety of sustainability initiatives. Prior to this, the communications expert worked as Project Manager for Digital Products at Gruner + Jahr in Hamburg and completed the Creative Management Programme at Bertelsmann SE as a trainee.
